Dental Bridges

A dental bridge is a non-removable prosthesis attached to remaining natural teeth of a patient. The purpose of false tooth between missing teeth is to bridge the gap between the remaining natural teeth. Fixed bridges were the best alternative for people who had lost teeth, as they were quite successful and esthetically pleasing and used to be the most acceptable solution for a long time. To fix a bridge, the natural teeth on both sides of the missing teeth need to shave down to support the false tooth. This is problematic, since the natural teeth will become prone to bacterial decay or plaque accumulations, gum disease. In some case RCT may be required sooner than normal due to the loss of coronal portion of the teeth.

At Sunrise Dental, we let you know the best solution for a missing tooth or teeth, and in many cases, there may be better solutions than doing a bridge, like implants and implant supported bridge. Please check with the dentist to identify the best solution and alternatives, if you are a candidate for bridge. Similar to a crown, bridge is completed in a lab and will require 2-3 visit to dentist to complete the treatment. Until a permanent bridge is delivered from the dental lab, dentist would be able to provide you with temporary bridge, or crowns or a flipper in place of the missing teeth.
