Night & Mouth Guards

Night Guards

Night Guards are acrylic appliances that cover the biting surfaces of your teeth. Many patients clench and/ or grind their teeth at night. This is called bruxism and most patients are not aware of the fact they grind their teeth during night. Bruxism may cause TMJ issues, teeth alignment, broken teeth, periodontal issues, and headaches.

Night guards are used to reduce the breakdown of teeth during grinding and or clenching of teeth during night time or day time. A night guard will not cure the underlying etiology of bruxism, but will prevent damage to teeth and other restorations in the mouth, for such patients.

Please check with the dentist, and ask what the best option is to prevent breakdown of teeth and how to get a night guard made. Some types of night guard also helps sleep apnea.

Sports Mouth Guards

Sports Mouth Guards offer significant protection against sports-related injuries to the teeth and soft tissues. Mouth guards provide a resilient, protective surface to distribute and dissipate forces on impact, thereby minimizing the severity of traumatic injury to the hard or soft tissues.

Use of a properly fitted mouth guard is the best available protective device for reducing the incidence and severity of sports-relate dental injuries.

While custom mouth guards are considered by many to be the most protective option, other mouth guards can be effective if they fit well, are worn properly and stay in place.
